Koi Rock Art

It’s the end of the year and we have a few classes left, I’m not starting a new painting. It’s time to take a little break and to end off the year I have a different kind of canvas.

A rock that has been laying in my garden for ages near the daisies. My boys painted lots of pet rocks when they were little, I still have a few lying around in some of the flowerbeds, they have faded but you can still see the snakes in some of them and the lady bugs too.

I made this my last painting for 2015. My last canvas. A more serious pet rock than that of the boys because of its size, a beautiful round rock to put back in the garden next to the daisies. Miniature koi pond –

The End of art 2015. See you next year!

The koi pond

Inspired by some gorgeous paintings I’ve seen of an artist friend and our newly revamped koi pond….I started working on this.

We have a pond in our garden, when we moved into this house the kitchen window and door facing the garden gave me a beautiful view (although at the time the garden was awful) we started planting and landscaping. I asked hubby if we could have a water feature, something small that would give us that nice sound of water flowing…He said, YES, and went mad and very soon the digging started!  He built a huge pond, it looked more like a mini lake and I wondered where had I gone wrong with my request 🙂

Anyway last year we moved the fish out to a temporary tank and painted the pond again and did some fixing and revamping.  We lost some of our big and older fish but we bought lots of new prized babies. The pond is beautiful and I just love the sound of that huge fountain I have. I guess the little water feature I had in mind a few years ago would not have had the same effect, so his madness paid off ♥

Inspired by watching my cat watching the koi and the cheeky staring hadeda bird, the shimmering in the sun, the tranquil garden, how they breathe and kiss the sun when they come up… I just know this is not going to be the first and last painting and I will paint koi fish again. Hopefully soon.

Preparing for Spring

1st of September we celebrate spring day. But as long as I can remember spring day is always still cold. This weekend was no different. It was freezing. But the calendar tells us its SPRING. And I’m just as excited as anyone else to hear that word. Soon we will have gorgeous warm nights, the fans will be working again, all the windows will be open and we’ll hear the splash of the pools. Am my favourite thing ever for the month of October is the smell of the Jacaranda trees.

It’s here we can almost touch it!

As most people moaned about the cold weekend, we got busy at home preparing for the real spring weekend.  Spring cleaning at home, painting and fixing and getting that pool clean again 🙂

New front door got varnished – Orchids almost opening also waiting for warmer days  – Koi pond was tended to and hungry fish are happy to see us

Finishing paint jobs – Hanging up of hearts – Cleaning the pool for summer

Finding a nest in my palm tree – New pot plants – Afternoon naps

It was busy in my house this weekend, our new colour is beautiful and we are ready for the real spring day to arrive.

So Mr Cold and Mr Wind you can go away now!  Excited!! 😀
